Ingrid Bergman is a classic dark red hybrid tea rose producing 4 to 5 inch velvety deep-red blooms of perfect classic form on strong stems. Growing 3 to 4 feet tall with glossy dark green foliage, mildly fragrant and very disease-resistant, it was named World's Favorite Rose in 2000 and is beloved by American gardeners for its faultless form and rich color.

History

Rosa 'Ingrid Bergman' is a deep red hybrid tea rose bred by Danish hybridizer Niels Dines Poulsen at Poulsen Roser, released in 1984 from an unnamed seedling lineage. Released by Poulsen the year after the death of Swedish-born actress Ingrid Bergman, the cultivar was named with permission of her family. The classic high-centered velvety dark red blooms do not fade or purple in sun, the plant is exceptionally disease-resistant and winter-hardy, and the cultivar quickly became one of the most planted red roses in Scandinavia and northern Europe.

'Ingrid Bergman' won Gold Medals at Belfast, Madrid, and The Hague, and was inducted into the World Federation of Rose Societies Hall of Fame in 2000. Light tea fragrance; excellent cut flower.

Bred by Poulsen Roser in Denmark and introduced in 1984 to honor Swedish film star Ingrid Bergman. Remains one of the most reliable and disease-resistant red hybrid teas on the market.
