History

Rosa 'Pascali' is a pure white hybrid tea rose bred by Belgian hybridizer Louis Lens of Wavre-Notre-Dame, released in 1963 from a cross between the pink 'Queen Elizabeth' and the ivory 'White Butterfly'. Named for the Belgian film Mr. Pascal, the cultivar produces long-stemmed high-centered creamy-white blooms with faint pink flush at the base of petals, making it a premier commercial cut flower for decades. 'Pascali' won the Royal National Rose Society's President's International Trophy in 1967, the All-America Rose Selections award in 1969, the Golden Rose of The Hague in 1973, and induction into the World Federation of Rose Societies Hall of Fame in 1991.
Its clean white color, reliable disease resistance, and durable stems keep it in commerce over sixty years later. Bred by Louis Lens in Belgium in 1963 and introduced to America shortly after.
Won the World's Favorite Rose award in 1991 and remains a benchmark for white hybrid tea quality. A top commercial cut flower for American wedding florists due to its pure color and long vase life.
Symbolism & meaning
What It Symbolizes
Pascali is purity and grace cast in white hybrid tea form — clear, classically pointed buds opening on tall, straight stems perfect for the cut-flower bouquet. Its purity is the photographer's white, neither cream nor pink, the color of a wedding bouquet. Its grace is structural, an upright posture that holds each bloom forward as if presenting it. Few white roses wear their virtues so visibly.
- Purity — clear white flowers of classic form
- Grace — elegant tall straight stems
