Scentimental is a unique striped burgundy-and-cream floribunda rose with strong sweet spicy fragrance, producing 4-inch semi-double blooms with no two alike. Growing 3 to 4 feet tall, this 1997 AARS winner was one of the first modern striped roses widely available and remains an eye-catching novelty floribunda in American gardens.

Rosa 'Scentimental' is a striped burgundy-and-cream floribunda bred by Tom Carruth at Weeks Roses in Upland, California, and released in 1996. Its parentage includes 'Playboy' and 'Peppermint Twist', a pairing that helped revive the old fascination with striped roses.

Every bloom opens with a different swirl of wine-red and creamy white, so the plant never looks exactly the same from one flower to the next. Carruth's aim was not novelty alone: 'Scentimental' also carries a strong old-rose-and-spice fragrance and relatively clean modern foliage.

The cultivar won the All-America Rose Selections award in 1997 and remains popular because it makes pattern part of the story. It brought the romance of historic striped roses, such as 'Rosa Mundi', into a modern repeat-flowering floribunda.
